Lip Augmentation (Cheiloplasties)
Lips may be enhanced in a variety of ways depending on your desired results and need. The lips may be augmented with injectible fillers such as Restylane that may last 6-9 months. More permanent augmentation may be performed with surgery.
By making small incisions at the corners of the mouth, a grafted material such as Alloderm may be placed into the lips. An Alloderm graft is a material that is processed from donated human tissue and is used for a broad range of reconstructive and cosmetic enhancements. It has been thoroughly screened and "freeze-dried." In preparation for use, the tissue is then rehydrated and inserted under a local anesthetic and I.V. sedation.
Following transplantation, AlloDerm begins to incorporate into the patient's own tissue and gives a soft, natural look to the lips. For lip augmentation combined with face lifts, the muscle that is removed during the face lift can be used for a more permanent and natural augmentation.
