Oral cancer can sneak up on you and when it does, many of the signs are signs that can easily be overlooked.
This is why it is important to always follow up with your dentist that can recognize the signs of oral cancer and then have them treated sooner.
This can give you the best chances of beating the cancer and keeping the teeth in your mouth. It is best to be informed about the oral cancer in case you notice any of the signs and symptoms that are out there.
Symptoms of Oral Cancer to Be Aware Of
Many of the symptoms of oral cancer are subtle, but when there is a lot of pain in the mouth then this is something that has to be addressed. Usually the pain that is felt does not have a real reason such as needing a root canal or because of cavities. Having thickening in the cheeks or throat that continues to get thicker.
Red patches on the tongue, cheeks or gums. Ulcers in the mouth can also be a sign of oral cancer. Having enlarged lymph nodes in the neck are often seen and a sore throat that hurts while swallowing that does not go away can also be a sign.
Often times this is mistaken as a common cold or even strep throat, which brings the person to visit a doctor. A dentist however, is the one that is able to provide the help that they need and testing that has to be done.
